Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
To have the word of Christ dwelling in us richly means that we are so immersed in the Word of God that it is second nature to us and flows out of us easily. In order to get to that place, we need to do more than just read the word. We need to memorize the Word. We need to let the Word DWELL in us richly. We memorize, learn, digest, hide it deep in our heart so we can have the Word as a part of us. We then can teach and admonish one another. When we have the Word memorized and dwelling within us, we are filled with wisdom to encourage, teach, warn and correct our fellow believers.
So let us dwell In the Word so much that we know it well and it takes up life in us. We want the Word to be ever on our lips and coming out of our mouths and filling our thoughts with truth and purity. We want to know the word on a deep level, to understand the richness of His word so that we are singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness. There is no better song to be on our lips than the Word of Christ. So, in order to be able to sing these truths, encourage our fellow brothers and sisters, and admonish one another we need to continue to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly.
