You know how some times you have the best intentions. You have a plan. You have a goal, an objective. You know what you want to accomplish. And then, life happens. And you’re not mad about it because you’re not able to change what happens to you naturally. So you pivot. You roll with it. And you make a new plan. You set new intentions. You try to accomplish your original goal but with a little work around, a new design. And sometimes the plan just has to be scrapped.
This verse from Hebrews reminds me a lot of intentions that aren’t going according to the original plan. We run with ENDURANCE the race that is set before us. We allow our path to be laid out before us and we continue on in the direction that God has for us. And we ENDURE.
My intention was to have a consistent book chat. My intention was to have a Christmas in July sale. My intention was to make more original art to sell. My intention was to create teaching videos, to teach in person and to find other ways to supplement our families income. My intention was to have all my Dwell posts written and posted in the correct and current months.
Some of my plans have panned out. Most have not. Some of my intentions came through and many have needed a big pivot. The book chat seemed like a great idea and it still is, but there needs to be more involvement. I need to take more time to sit down and write soon after I read the sections so I don’t forget my thoughts. I LOVE to talk about books so I do hope to pick up the book chats again and I hope you will consider joining in the conversation.
My Christmas in July sale didn’t happen. But I still have intentions of selling my ornaments before October. In fact, they are currently listed in my etsy shop here and here if you are interested in placing an order before the Christmas rush in a few months. I have made a few new pieces of original art and I am super excited with how they’ve turned out, but I just haven’t gotten the volume of pieces that I intended. I am still working on them and hope to add these pieces to my etsy shop before too long.
I intended to get the back-to-school items done sooner. I wanted them listed, shared, etc. in early July but it just got finished this afternoon. So, there are lots of goodies in my etsy shop for back-to-school. I have two sets of backpack tags, lots of coloring pages and bookmarks. I just finished creating a set of downloads that correspond with the Lutheran Education theme, Endure, for the year and they are now listed as well. I also have a sticker created that would be super fun to hand out to students and fellow teachers. I am doing a pre-order on those stickers right now so I know how many to order.
I do still plan on re-doing some of my teaching videos and find other ways to share what I love with others. And I have started working full time in order to help supplement out families income so that is why so many of the intentions I have had for my small business have been given a longer time table, put on hold or changed altogether.
I plan on doing more writing too. I have a few blog posts started and just have to finish them up. Again, my intentions don’t always pan out but it’s
good to have a plan because as Benjamin Franklin said, “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”
I will keep my intentions known. But just understand that if things I’ve talked about don’t happen in the timetable I’ve mentioned, I am still working hard behind the scenes, and I’m excited to be able to create art and content for you amazing people. Let’s get more scripture on more walls.
in His grip,
+Jamie
Do you have a plan? Do you find yourself having to change your plan because intentions are well and good but they aren’t always real life?
