Slowing Down for an Intentional Advent
Some resources to help make your Advent one of peace
As the season of Advent begins in just over a week, it offers a gentle invitation to pause. In the midst of lists, lights, and endless motion, Advent reminds us that waiting can be sacred. It’s a time to slow down, breathe deeply, make space for stillness and reflect on the coming of our Savior.
Instead of rushing toward Christmas, consider embracing each day with intention—lighting a candle, sharing a quiet meal, or reflecting on all the blessings that Jesus has given us in His birth. These small moments of presence can transform the season from hurried to holy.
In an effort to be more intentional and savor the Savior I have created some resources for my family and yours. Below are some examples with a little bit of explanation for why these resources were created and how to use them.
The coloring book has been a hit and I am so excited for people to be able to slow down with God’s word and meditate on the Scriptures as they color. It’s not too late to get your copy before Christmas. This would make a great gift paired with some colored pencils or fun markers.
Countdown to Christmas - If you’re wanting a little decoration for Christmas with your Advent countdown these paper chain decorations are perfect. The Bible verse each day helps prepare your hearts for the coming of Jesus!
Advent Coloring Cards with Readings - This Names of Jesus Advent calendar is full of meaning, reflection and fun. Color the card and read the corresponding Scripture passage to learn about one of the Names of Jesus. At the end of the season you’ll have a beautiful display of His special names.
Advent Candle Coloring Page and Sticker Sheet - This set of advent candles is fun because it is more interactive. Your kids can color the sheet and then you can add the stickers on top when the specific Sunday comes. These would be great for a Sunday School classroom, add one each week.
Advent Candle Coloring Collection - This collection of candles is a little more intricate but does not involve stickers. These candles are perfect for a weekly study and to give the kids something to focus on while Sunday Advent devotions are read. These finished pieces would make a great decoration for the season also.
Nativity Advent Coloring Calendar - I loved designing this piece. I wanted something that my kids could do a part of each day but that would give them something to look forward to interacting with. The stories my five-year old comes up with for the characters are quite amusing. Color them all in one sitting or use the hymn verses and add a piece each day of the season.
May this Advent be a time of peace, reflection, and quiet joy.
